Community Battery

A community battery for Banyule

Giving you access to clean energy, generated by home solar systems in your neighbourhood.

We were awarded a grant from the Banyule City Council 's Community Energy Innovation Grants program to scope the requirements for a community battery in the Bellfield area.

The battery will store energy generated during the day from household solar PV systems, which can then be used at night to help power local households and reduce pressure on the grid. Whether homes have solar systems installed or not, they’ll all have access to the stored power.

We contracted Enhar Pty Ltd, an energy and solar PV consultancy, to assist us in identifying three to four viable sites for the battery. It’s the first stage towards the eventual installation of the community battery. We'll have a strong focus on disadvantaged areas in Banyule, to ensure that low income earners and renters will benefit.

We'd like to thank the Banyule city Council for their commitment to helping our community gain access to renewable energy.

We’re always looking for people to join us and share their passion and skills. If you can commit between five to ten hours a week, we’d love to hear from you.
